I have come to know David W. Craig through his artwork and have enjoyed learning more about native culture and spirituality from him. If you are looking for an Indian artist who is committed to the well being of the nations, Dave is the REAL thing. He has provided the art for the calendars of the American Relief Council for many years.
Dave's watercolors grace the walls of my home and provide me with Great pleasure. He has done a good number of portraits with quotes from different tribal leaders which I especially like. A children's book "Water Walkers" about an Indian elder who walked the entire perimeter of the great lakes to call attention to the lakes pollution should come out soon. Dave's illustrations bring the story to life.
Dave is a very devoted and tireless parent of two lovely girls. He travels with them to various powwows and events. He does drum making workshops. His drums are amazing. I've enjoyed watching him build and paint drums. His work also appears in " Native Reflections"
Dave and his Gallery partner operate the Four Winds Art gallery in Eatonville Wa. I recommend a visit as Dave's work is displayed along with many other native items including masks, baskets, jewelry and photographs. Dave compliments his paintings with over 30 years experience in custom frame building. Linda Marra
David Craig is a well-known treasure here in the Northwest. I own many of his prints and a few Originals. I Love everyone of them. As well as his prints, I've also collected some of his reverse painting mediums and his raw hide sculptures. He brings such emotion into his art. --Whatever medium he uses it "speaks" to you. There are three that are my favorites- The first is a raw-hide Sculpture titled "HORSE WHISPER" Secondly is a Watercolor titled "DANCES IN MY HEART" and thirdly, is one of his Grandfather titled "GRANDFATHER SPEAKS" . David also does custom commission paintings for individuals. He did a mural for me on my bathroom wall to compliment an art print I had. It is a real conversation piece for any visitor to my home. The vibrant colors he uses rival R.C. Gorman's paintings. I'm a dedicated collector! Karan Baber
